Childhood
Sir Francis Bacon grew up in London in which he
witnessed the reign of Queen Elizabeth and the reign of
James the First. During this time, he saw the political
changes of the early Stuart period. At the age of 12, Bacon
went to Trinity College, in Cambridge, in which he studied
Greek wisdom, medieval scholastic philosophies, and new
Renaissance humanism. After he completed his studies in
December of 1575, he continued to study law at Gray's Inn,
until he served for Sir Amyas Paulet, the English
ambassador to France, for two and a half years.
